View on China from the Star is a special program aiming at introducing Beijing and its culture to Japanese viewers. It displays past and present of the Forbidden City and the Summer Palace through the eyes of Haruka Igawa, a Japanese popular female star. She also introduces some special cultural forms like Beijing opera, Beijing embroidery, imperial cuisine, hutong, folk arts and crafts, modern art etc. From the program, viewers can perceive the profound traditional culture of old Beijing, as well as the metropolitan charm of new Beijing. This will make Japanese viewers understand Beijing better and facilitate the development of Sino-Japan relations.
